The Molecular Systematics Laboratory provides facilities for isoenzyme analysis, molecular cytology (involving in situ hybridisation of DNA probes to chromosomes), as well as the isolation of nucleic acids (by PCR or cloning) and their characterization by sequencing, hybridization etc. Much DNA sequencing is semi-automated, using ABI apparatus, and the laboratory is well equipped with computing equipment and network links for sequence identification and (phylogenetic) analyses.
