Defining operational taxonomic units using DNA barcode data
online article - Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, Volume 360, Issue 1462, 29 Oct 2005 ; Using the DNA barcode data from meiofaunal surveys, the paper discusses the benefits of treating the taxa defined by barcodes without reference to their correspondence to species, and suggests that using this non-idealist approach facilitates access to taxon groups that are not accessible to other methods of enumeration and classification

ELPH
Estimated Locations of Pattern Hits - this is a general-purpose Gibbs sampler for finding motifs in a set of DNA or protein sequences. The program takes as input a set containing anywhere from a few dozen to thousands of sequences, and searches through them for the most common motif, assuming that each sequence contains one copy of the motif. We have used ELPH to find patterns such as ribosome binding sites (RBSs) and exon splicing enhancers (ESEs)

EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database
The EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database constitutes Europe's primary nucleotide sequence resource. Main sources for DNA and RNA sequences are direct submissions from individual researchers, genome sequencing projects and patent applications.
