Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods (PHDCN): Substance Use, Wave 2, 1997-2000

The data files contain information regarding the subject's use, including quantity and frequency, of drugs including tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, inhalants, hallucinogens, heroin, barbiturates, tranquilizers, amphetamines, steroids, and intravenous drugs. Information regarding lifetime, past year, and past month usage was obtained. Information relating to reasons for use and how the substance was obtained was collected only in Cohort 18. Symptom counts for tolerance and dependence were also obtained in all cohorts.
