Two aspects of subjective response (dissatisfaction) to road traffic noise were investigated: 1) The hypothesis was tested, that a decrease or increase in noise exposure will result in a greater change in dissatisfaction than predicted from response to steady-state noise exposure. 2) Individual differences in response were investigated, using a measure of dissatisfaction which is more reliable than ones previously used. This is a mixed method dataset. The study is part of the Rural Economy and Land Use (RELU) programme. The object of the original project was to analyse the working of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - established under UN auspices in 1988 to examine scientific evidence on climate change, assess environmental, and source economic impacts; and formulate realistic response strategies- and the assumptions upon which its consultative process was founded. The IPCC reported in June 1990, however, some of its conclusions have been challenged and there was no consensus on global policy.
