This repeated cross-sectional national telephone survey of households was conducted as part of the evaluation of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Urban Health Initiative (UHI), a long-term effort to improve the health, safety, and well-being of children and youth in five economically distressed cities in the United States: Baltimore, MD, Detroit, MI, Oakland, CA, Philadelphia, PA, and Richmond, VA.

The American Time Use Survey (ATUS) collects information on how people living in the United States spend their time. Data collected in this study measured the amount of time that people spent doing various activities in 2007, such as paid work, child care, religious activities, volunteering, and socializing. Respondents were interviewed only once about how they spent their time on the previous day, where they were, and whom they were with.

This poll, fielded March 7-11, 2007, is a part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicits public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. This poll oversampled people who called themselves Republicans, providing an insight into the demographic characteristics and political perspectives of Republicans. All respondents were asked to say whether they approved of the way George W.

This poll, fielded February 8-11, 2007, is a part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicits public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. Respondents were asked for their opinions of George W. Bush and his handling of the presidency and other issues such as foreign policy, the condition of the national economy, what was the most important problem facing the country, and whether they approved of the way the United States Congress was handling its job.

This collection provides information on live births in the United States during calendar year 2005. The natality data in these files are a component of the vital statistics collection effort maintained by the federal government. Birth data is limited to births occurring in the United States to United States residents and nonresidents. Births occurring to United States citizens outside of the United States are not included in this data collection.

Data were being collected in two waves, in 2000-2001 and 2006-2008, with the possibility of additional waves in later years. Wave I was completed in January 2002. The L.A.FANS follows neighborhoods over time, as well as children and families. Specifically, in the second wave of the survey, the L.A.FANS: (1) reinterviewed all children and adults in the sample, even if they moved out of the neighborhood, (2) reinterviewed all sampled respondents who remained in the neighborhood, and (3) interviewed a sample of new entrants into the neighborhood.

This study, which was conducted in 1978, involved interviews with a national sample of 2,002 individuals, including both members of 682 married couples. Respondents were asked what they thought about women working, how this might impact family life, as well as other issues affecting the nation.

As a refinement to MIDLIFE DEVELOPMENT IN THE UNITED STATES (MIDUS II), 2004-2006 (ICPSR 4652), a sample of African Americans from Milwaukee was included to examine health issues in minority populations. Areas of the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were stratified according to the proportion of the population that were African American. Those areas with high concentrations were sampled at higher rates than areas with lower concentrations. Area probability sampling methods were used along with population counts from the 2000 United States Census to identify potential respondents.
