To conduct a quantitative analysis of the slave trade from Africa to the Americas during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This dataset was developed to introduce students to cross-national political data analysis. Main Topics: Cross-sectional data are available in the form of 72 variables for 108 nations. Time series data are available in the form of 12 variables for 60 nations, 1919-1939.

This project involved interviewing women in conflict-affected areas in Vietnam, Somaliland, Uganda, India, Sri Lanka, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Lebanon, Tigray, Croatia and Bosnia and Liberia.

The study examines all forms of policing in post-conflict Rwanda and Liberia, to establish the scale and nature of the various forms of policing and the manner in which they were adapting to the post-conflict environment. The data consists of semi-structured interview transcripts, focus groups, observation notes and images with providers of policing, users of policing and other key figures. The research examined:

The United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade) contains detailed imports and exports statistics reported by statistical authorities of close to 200 countries or areas. It concerns annual trade data from 1962 to the most recent year. UN Comtrade is considered the most comprehensive trade database available with more than 1.1 billion records. A typical record is, for instance, the exports of cars from Germany to the United States in 2004 in terms of value (US dollars), weight and supplementary quantity (number of cars). The database is continuously updated.

The World Bank Africa Development Indicators (ADI) provides annual time series data for over 1,400 indicators. Topics covered by the extensive database include national accounts, balance of payments, trade, prices, government finance and external debt with data on household welfare (from the Survey-based Harmonized Indicators Program), demography, health, education, the regulatory environment, communications, transport, energy and the environment. The ADI data cover the period 1960 to the latest available year for 53 countries and 5 regional country groups. Main Topics:
