The Asian Barometer survey program gathers public opinion data on political values, democracy, and governance throughout the region. The regional network includeds national research teams from Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Data were gathered through face-to-face interviews with randomly selected samples of respondents representing the adult population in each country.

The main variable categories presented in these data include: Identification Numbers, Incident Date, Incident Location, Incident Information, Attack Information, Target Information, Perpetrator Information, Perpetrator Statistics, Perpetrator Claim of Responsibility, Weapon Information, Casualty Information, Consequences, Hostage/Kidnapping Additional Information, and Source Information. Sub-variables under Identification Number include: Coder and Event ID.

The authors estimate the responsiveness of aid to recipient countries' economic and physical needs, civil/political rights, and government effectiveness. They look exclusively at the post-Cold War era and use fixed effects to control for the political, strategic, and other considerations of donors. They find that aid and per capita income have been negatively related, while aid has been positively related to infant mortality, rights, and government effectiveness.

These time series present combined statistics on detailed revenues and expenditures for all levels of government. Topics covered include deficit/surplus or total financing, revenues or grants, expenditures, lending minus repayments, domestic financing, foreign financing, domestic debt or total debt, and foreign debt.

These time series data provide information on the balance of payments among countries and geographical areas of the world.

This dataset contains country level economic and social measures for 183 countries. Part 1, World Tables (1980 File), contains, where available, measures of (1)population, (2)national accounts and price data for 1950, 1955, 1960 through 1977, (3)data on external trade for 1962, 1965, 1970, and 1977, (4)data on balance of payments, debt, central government finance and trade indices for 1970-1977, and (5)social data for 1960, 1970, and (estimated) 1977.

This two-part data collection contains annual information for military expenditures and import and export of arms and military equipment for 145 countries for the period 1969-1978. Data are provided on arms exports and imports, total imports and exports, arms imports and exports as a percentage of the total imports and exports, the gross national product (GNP), and central government expenditures, as well as expenditures on health, education, and the military as a percentage of the GNP, and health and education expenditures as a percentage of military expenditures.

This collection was created by the United Nations from information collected from individual countries regarding their industrial production. The collection contains, for each reporting country, data on the type and amount of industrial production for the years 1963-1979. There are statistics on production for various industries including mining, manufacturing, construction, financing, and community and personal services. Production quantities are indicated in the basic units of that particular industry (e.g., number, man-hours, kilowatt hours, etc.).

This data collection contains energy commodity production statistics for approximately 200 United Nations reporting countries for the years 1970-1979. In this file, each record refers to an individual reporting country and the quantity of its various transactions (e.g., production, imports, exports, bunkers, additions to stocks, and capacity) for a given energy commodity in a given year. Only annual data are included.

This data collection contains 12 statistical tables that were published in the HISTORICAL SUPPLEMENT OF THE UNITED NATIONS DEMOGRAPHIC YEARBOOK, issued in 1980 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the publication of the DEMOGRAPHIC YEARBOOK. It presents time series data on population size, age, sex, urban/rural residence, natality, mortality, and nuptiality as well as selected derived measures concerning these components of population change for countries of the world over a 30-year time period. The unit of analysis is ethnic group within a country, by year.
