Nicaragua

This dataset covers the years 1990 through 2007 and contains two types of indicators for the global distribution of information, communication and technology (ICT) resources. The data includes gini coefficients for the distribution of Internet access within countries, and a technology diffusion index that weights the distribution of broadband subscribers, personal computers, mobile phones, Internet users, and international Internet bandwidth by economic output. The data are secondary source data, based on the analysis of primary data from 204 surveys fielded in 47 countries.

Variables provide group name (up to three groups), type of terrorist incident (assassination, bombing, facility attack, hijacking, kidnapping, maiming, assault, mass disruption, or arson), incident date (year, month, day of month), region, country, state in the United States (if applicable), city, whether the incident was just outside of the city, the type of target (business, government, police, military, abortion related, airport and airplanes, diplomatic, educational institution, food or water supply, journalists and media, maritime, NGO, private citizens and property, religious figures/ins

The authors estimate the responsiveness of aid to recipient countries' economic and physical needs, civil/political rights, and government effectiveness. They look exclusively at the post-Cold War era and use fixed effects to control for the political, strategic, and other considerations of donors. They find that aid and per capita income have been negatively related, while aid has been positively related to infant mortality, rights, and government effectiveness.

This data collection contains economic and social indicators for 136 countries. Included are economic variables such as gross national product, gross domestic product, value added in agriculture, industry, manufacturing, and services, value of imports and exports, private consumption, government consumption, gross national savings, gross domestic savings, government deficit or surplus, net direct foreign investment, repayments of long-term loans, public long-term debt, international reserves excluding gold, and gold holdings at London market price.

This data collection is part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that evaluates the Reagan presidency and solicits opinions on a variety of political and social issues. Topics covered include the national economy, nuclear arms treaties between the United States and the Soviet Union, spending on space exploration, the shuttle program, federal spending on the military and defense programs, aid to the contras in Nicaragua, and whether certain aspects of a politician's personal life such as a serious medical condition or cheating on income taxes should be public knowledge.

Admiral John Poindexter's testimony before the congressional committee investigating the Iran-Contra affair was the subject of this poll. Respondents were asked if they thought Poindexter was telling the truth, withholding information, and/or covering up for President Reagan, whether they approved of Poindexter's actions, and if they thought he should be criminally prosecuted. Other questions addressed the issues of aid to the Nicaraguan contras, Reagan's involvement in the affair and if he participated in an attempt to cover up the facts, and Oliver North's actions and testimony.

This survey focused on the testimony of Admiral John Poindexter before the congressional committee investigating the Iran-contra affair. Respondents were asked if they thought Poindexter was telling the truth, withholding information, and/or covering up for President Reagan. They also were asked whether they approved of Poindexter's actions, whether he should be prosecuted, and whether Reagan should pardon him.

The New York Times conducted interviews with residents of Mexico to measure public opinion in that country on current social, economic, and political issues. Respondents were asked to comment on the state of the Mexican national economy, their personal political beliefs and party identification, views on the performance of the Mexican government, feelings toward the use of illegal drugs, religious practices, employment status and job description, educational attainments, income, and family composition.

These time series present combined statistics on detailed revenues and expenditures for all levels of government. Topics covered include deficit/surplus or total financing, revenues or grants, expenditures, lending minus repayments, domestic financing, foreign financing, domestic debt or total debt, and foreign debt.
