The World Bank World Development Indicators (WDI) contain statistical data for over 600 development indicators for over 200 countries and 18 country groups running from 1960 onwards. The extensive collection of development data includes social, economic, financial, natural resources and environmental indicators.

The World Bank Global Development Finance Database contains more than 200 debt and financial flows indicators for over 130 countries that report public and publicly-guaranteed debt to the World Bank Debtor Reporting System. The database runs from 1970 onwards and covers external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructuring, and scheduled debt service projections.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Industrial Statistics are presented in three annual databases covering up to 180 countries worldwide. They contain data from 1963 onwards on employment, wages, output, value added, gross fixed capital formation, number of female employees, number of establishments and production level broken down by industrial sector.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Direction of Trade Statistics (DOTS) database contains data on the value of merchandise exports and imports between each country and all its trading partners. Total bilateral and multilateral exports and imports are aggregated at national or regional group level. For each reporting country or group, all the trading partners are listed. The corresponding monetary values of total imports and total exports are then provided as time series for each country/trading partner pair. All exports are valued free on board (f.o.b.).

The transformation of the states of Central and Eastern Europe (CEECs) from communist satellites to capitalist democracies and full members of the European Union is a process that is generally understood as one that has been driven by EU conditionality and its impact on the compliance of the CEECs. This project aimed to investigate EU conditionality and evaluate its impact on institution-building in states undergoing post-communist transformation in Eastern Europe.

Political science has a good understanding of the role of elections and the ways in which the choice of electoral laws help shape a political system. However, since these generalisations were developed in relation to established democratic polities, they may not necessarily apply to newly democratising countries. This project explored the role played by elections in the process of post-communist democratisation by examining the impact of elections on democratic performance, representativeness and policy responsiveness.

This data collection contains economic and social indicators for 189 countries from 1950-1992. World Bank World Development Indicators, from 1960 to present is also available via a web-based service using Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server.
