Mexico

This data collection contains information about selected interactions between major powers, such as the United States, the former Soviet Union, the People's Republic of China, and Eastern European countries, and less developed countries for the years 1959, 1961, 1963, and 1965.

The data for this study were collected to provide information on patterns of domestic conflict behavior in 111 independent countries for the years 1919-1966. The variables record the occurrence of riots, anti-government demonstrations, purges, major government crises, strikes, coups, revolutions, assassinations, and guerrilla war. Data exist for the full 42 years for 52 of the countries, but for the other 59 countries data exist for less than 42 years. Data may be obtained in either of two formats: nations as cases or nation/years as cases.

This annual survey, fielded May to August 2005, was conducted in 67 countries and the province of Kosovo to solicit public opinion on social and political issues. Respondents were asked to identify the most important problem facing the world, how often they or their family had not had enough to eat in the past year, whether they had heard of global institutions such as the United Nations and the European Union, and whether their opinions of these institutions were positive, negative, or neutral.

The World Values Surveys and European Values Surveys series was designed to enable a crossnational, crosscultural comparison of values and norms on a wide variety of topics and to monitor changes in values and attitudes across the globe. This data collection contains the survey data from the four waves of the World Values Surveys and European Values Surveys, carried out in 1981-1984, 1990-1993, 1995-1997, and 1999-2004.

The 2004 Mexico Global Views Survey is the first ever comprehensive study of Mexican public and leadership opinion on international affairs. The study is designed to measure general attitudes and values concerning Mexico's relationship with the world rather than opinions on specific foreign policies or issues. This year's survey was conducted in cooperation with the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations' (CCFR) study GLOBAL VIEWS 2004: AMERICAN PUBLIC OPINION AND FOREIGN POLICY (ICPSR 4137).

The International Social Survey Program (ISSP) is an ongoing program of cross-national collaboration. Formed in 1983, the ISSP group develops topical modules dealing with important areas of social science as supplements to regular national surveys. This data collection is the third survey exploring the topic of family and changing gender roles (please see INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SURVEY PROGRAM: FAMILY AND CHANGING SEX ROLES I, 1988 [ICPSR 9591] and INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SURVEY PROGRAM: FAMILY AND CHANGING GENDER ROLES II, 1994 [ICPSR 6914] for the earlier data concerning the same topic).

This data collection has been superseded by a new data collection that integrates all four waves of the European and World Values Surveys. This study is the full release of 2001-2006 data from Module 2 of the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems. The Comparative Study of Electoral Systems is an ongoing collaborative program of crossnational research among national election studies designed to advance the understanding of electoral behavior across polities.

The Fifth United Nations Survey, covering the years 1990-1994, was designed to collect data on the incidence of reported crime and the operation of criminal justice systems with a view to improving the dissemination of that information globally. To that end, the survey facilitates an overview of trends and interrelationships among various parts of the criminal justice system to promote informed decision-making in its administration, nationally and crossnationally.
