The American Community Survey (ACS) is a part of the Decennial Census Program, and is designed to produce critical information about the characteristics of local communities. The ACS publishes social, housing, and economic characteristics for demographic groups covering a broad spectrum of geographic areas in the United States and Puerto Rico. Every year the ACS supports the release of single-year estimates for geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more. Demographic variables include sex, age, relationship, households by type, race, and Hispanic origin.

Derived from the Census 2000 100-percent data, this file contains Table PCT37 (household population by sex and age), which is tabulated for every geographic unit represented in the data. PCT37 looks identical to Table PCT5 in Census 2000 Summary File 2. The only difference between PCT37 and PCT5 is that PCT37 was tallied according to the race, Hispanic or Latino origin, or American Indian or Alaska Native tribe of the person, whereas PCT5 was tallied according to the race, Hispanic or Latino origin, or American Indian or Alaska Native tribe of the householder.

The Latino National Survey (LNS) contains 8,634 completed interviews (unweighted) of self-identified Latino/Hispanic residents of the United States. Interviewing began on November 17, 2005, and continued through August 4, 2006. The survey instrument contained approximately 165 distinct items ranging from demographic descriptions to political attitudes and policy preferences, as well as a variety of social indicators and experiences. All interviewers were bilingual, English and Spanish.

This data collection contains information on married women workers in the cotton textiles and clothing industries in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, North Carolina, and Massachusetts. Approximately 15 percent of the women in the sample were working in other sectors but were included because their children worked in cotton textiles and clothing.

This data collection contains work and demographic information on immigrant and native born industrial workers and their families from Massachusetts, North Carolina, Chicago, and New York City in the cotton textile and clothing industries. Information available includes occupation, days worked, earnings, job experience, literacy, schooling, family income, amounts retained by youths, and rent paid by the family. Also in the sample is similar information on young girls and boys working in the same two industries. Other industries (silk and glass) were surveyed, but are not in this sample.
