The data files contain information regarding the subjects' past-year anxiety or stress in relation to one or more traumatic events including when and where the events occurred, to whom the events occurred, and who perpetrated the events. The files also contain information pertaining to how the subjects felt at the time of the events such as fearing for their lives, feeling afraid, feeling helpless, or feeling like they were going crazy.
The Provision of Social Relations (Subject and Young Adult) (PSRS) was an instrument designed to assess the support received by the subjects (SP) belonging to Cohorts 6 to 18. The PSRS interview asked specific questions regarding the respondent's primary source of help and sense of closeness to family members and friends. Respondents were asked to rate how true a series of statements were for them.

Respondents gave information related to the male most responsible for raising the subject including the male caregiver's (MC's) relation to the subject, how much time the MC spent with the subject in the past year, and how often the MC participated in various activities such as helping the subject with homework or going places with the subject. Respondents were also asked questions related to the subject's birth father.
The data files contain information regarding each subject's self-perceived changes in height, body hair, skin, and weight. They also contain information pertaining to boys' self-perceived changes in voice and facial hair and girls' self-perceived changes in breast growth and menstruation. They also contain a computation of body mass index.

For these questions, subjects used a 4-point scale (1 = definitely won't, 2 = probably won't, 3 = probably will, 4 = definitely will) and were asked questions regarding use of cigarettes, marijuana, inhalants, heroin, cocaine, steroids, and alcohol.
The data files contain information regarding subjects' defiant behavior including examples of defiant behavior in which the subject may have engaged, such as breaking rules on purpose, refusing to obey caregivers, doing things to annoy people, or blaming others for the subject's own mistakes. The data files also contain information regarding the effects this defiant behavior may have had, such as causing problems at home or school or making the subject feel unhappy, as well as whether the subject ever saw a doctor or counselor regarding this behavior.
