Fluid pressure interpreted from uniaxial consolidation tests equals 80% of the overburden (total) stress in Pleistocene mudstones at Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 1073 of the US mid-Atlantic continental slope, offshore New Jersey. The fluid overpressure decreases effective vertical stress and preserves void ratio (e) greater than 0.8 in Pleistocene sediments. Overpressure in Oligocene-Miocene sediments is lower even though e is high.

The data include defendant level variables such as most serious current offense charge, number of charges, prior felony convictions, prior misdemeanor convictions, prior incarcerations, criminal justice status at arrest, prior failure to appear, age, gender, ethnicity, and race. County level variables include region, crime rate, two year change in crime rate, caseload rate, jail capacity, two year change in jail capacity, judicial selection by election or appointment, prosecutor screens cases, and annual expenditure on prosecutor's office.

The Compstat Survey (Part 1) contains a total of 321 variables pertaining to executive views and departmental policy, organizational features and technology, and comments about problem solving in police agencies. Variables include small or large department and region.

Reflecting this, a linear spatial assimilation theory asserts that immigrants settle initially in a segregated urban ethnic enclave and disperse as they achieve economic, social, and cultural assimilation. The growth of suburban immigrant communities over the last couple of decades, however, challenges this traditional notion; suburban residency is no longer the final stage of assimilation.

This data collection contains information compiled from the questions asked of all people and every housing unit enumerated in Census 2000. The questions cover sex, age, race, Hispanic or Latino origin, type of living quarters (household/group quarters), household relationship, housing unit vacancy status, and housing unit tenure (owner/renter).

The data in Part 1 (Prisoner Quantitative Data) and Part 2 (Family Quantitative Data) include demographic variables such as age, race, marital status, length of relationship, number of children, length of prison sentence, and time served. Several variables focus on the contact between the inmate and family members before and during their incarceration, including if the inmate and family had lived together, frequency of contact (visits, phone calls, and mail) prior to and during incarceration, and frequency of visits from children.

The American Community Survey (ACS) is a part of the Decennial Census Program, and is designed to produce critical information about the characteristics of local communities. The ACS publishes social, housing, and economic characteristics for demographic groups covering a broad spectrum of geographic areas in the United States and Puerto Rico. Every year the ACS supports the release of single-year estimates for geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more. Demographic variables include sex, age, relationship, households by type, race, and Hispanic origin.

Derived from the Census 2000 100-percent data, this file contains Table PCT37 (household population by sex and age), which is tabulated for every geographic unit represented in the data. PCT37 looks identical to Table PCT5 in Census 2000 Summary File 2. The only difference between PCT37 and PCT5 is that PCT37 was tallied according to the race, Hispanic or Latino origin, or American Indian or Alaska Native tribe of the person, whereas PCT5 was tallied according to the race, Hispanic or Latino origin, or American Indian or Alaska Native tribe of the householder.
