This collection provides information on live births in the United States during calendar year 2006. The natality data in these files are a component of the vital statistics collection effort maintained by the federal government. Birth data is limited to births occurring in the United States to United States residents and nonresidents. Births occurring to United States citizens outside of the United States are not included in this data collection.

This data collection includes information about the cause of all recorded deaths occurring in the United States, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands during 2005. Data are provided concerning underlying causes of death, multiple conditions that caused the death, place of death, residence of the deceased (e.g., region, division, state, county), whether an autopsy was performed, and the month and day of the week of the death.

Data are provided concerning underlying causes of death, multiple conditions that caused the death, place of death, residence of the deceased (e.g., region, division, state, county), whether an autopsy was performed, and the month and day of the week of the death.

Each geographic entity listed in this collection is identified by a unique two-character state code and a five-character numeric place code. Areas of the United States covered are the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and all outlying territories with significant self-administration (American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, and the Virgin Islands).

The Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) series was designed to provide comprehensive information on various aspects of postsecondary education in the United States and its territories (American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Northen Marianas, and the Marshall Islands) and Department of Defense schools outside the United States. Data are available for both public and private two-year and four-year institutions. The HEGIS Institutional Characteristics component for 1983-1984 sought data on basic characteristics from institutions of higher education.

This data collection contains information gathered in five annual surveys that assessed the degree of freedom in 218 nations and dependencies from 1972-1976. The study was carried out under the auspices of Freedom House, New York City. The number of cases with data varies from year to year, due to annexation, amalgamation, or the addition of further territories to the roster.

The primary purpose of this survey is to collect data on the salaries, tenure, and fringe benefits of full-time instructional faculty by contract length, sex, and academic rank. These data permit analysis, from a national perspective, of the number and tenure status of full-time faculty members in relation to enrollment and number of degrees granted, and the evaluation of faculty compensation in relation to institutional financial resources for an indication of the economic status of institutions.

This data collection describes the number of institutional faculty and staff in postsecondary institutions of the United States by occupational activity, full- and part-time status, sex, and race/ethnicity. Beginning in 1993, this survey, conducted in odd-numbered years, replaces the EEO-6 survey administered by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Part 1 (Part D from IPEDS-S) provides institutional characteristics, such as state, region, and locale codes, and name of institution. Part 2 includes Parts A, B, C, E, and F of the Survey (IPEDS-S).
